Description: NOTE: Based on new information from the vendor, this is NOT a security issue and the advisory has therefore been revoked.
infamous41md has reported a vulnerability in ppp, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an integer underflow in pppd within the "cbcp_input()" function. This can be exploited to dereference an invalid pointer, which causes the service to crash.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 2.4.1. Other versions may also be affected.
