Description: infamous41md has reported a vulnerability in the inetutils TFTP client, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to boundary errors within the handling of DNS responses and can be exploited to cause buffer overflows via a specially crafted DNS response.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code, but requires that a DNS response is spoofed or a user is tricked into using a malicious DNS server.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.4.2 of inetutils. Prior versions may also be affected.
