Description:
A vulnerability has been discovered a vulnerability in MDaemon, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to the Mdaemon.exe process invoking Notepad.exe with SYSTEM privileges when the user attempts to create a new file.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary programs on the system with SYSTEM privileges.

The vulnerability has been reported in versions 6.8 and 7.2 and has been confirmed in version 7.2.1. Other versions may also be affected.
