Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in file, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the ELF header parsing code in the function "donote()" in "readelf.c". This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow when a malicious file is processed.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

Update to version 4.12.
