Description:
Luigi Auriemma has reported a vulnerability in the Gamespy CD-Key Validation SDK, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the validation of CD-keys and can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by returning an overly long response to a vulnerable server.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code on a system hosting a game implementing the vulnerable SDK. However, exploitation requires access to a game on the vulnerable server, some knowledge of the game protocol, and also depends on the implementation of the CD-Key Validation SDK.
