Description: An old vulnerability has been reported in sendmail included in Solaris 9, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing DNS responses. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by returning a specially crafted DNS response.
Successful exploitation requires that sendmail has been configured to use a custom DNS map to query TXT records.
Solution: Apply patch.
