Description:
Jeremy Bae has reported two vulnerabilities in Zeroboard, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system and conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

1) Input passed to the "_zb_path" parameter in "outlogin.php" and "dir" parameter in "write.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from external and local resources.

Successful exploitation requires "register_globals" to be enabled. The script "outlogin.php" can only be exploited on systems where PHP 5.x is used.

2) Input passed to the "user_id" parameter in "check_user_id.php" isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of a vulnerable site.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 4.1pl4. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 4.1pl5.

NOTE: The updated version only prevents inclusion of external files for issue 1. Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.

Provided and/or discovered by:
Jeremy Bae, STG Security.

Changelog:
2005-01-10: New version released. Updated "Solution" section.
2005-01-13: STG Security reported that the updated version fails to fix issue #1 correctly.
