Description: Peter Samuelson has reported a vulnerability in BMV, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to temporary files being created insecurely and can be exploited via symlink attacks to overwrite arbitrary files on the system.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.2. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Secunia is currently not aware of an official updated version, which addresses the vulnerability.
Updated packages have been issued by some Linux vendors.
