- Companies can be alerted when a patch is released!

Description:
Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña has reported some vulnerabilities in Ghostscript, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to conduct certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to various scripts creating temporary files insecurely. This can be exploited via symlink attacks to create or overwrite arbitrary files on the system with the privileges of the user running a vulnerable script.

The following scripts are reportedly affected:
* lib/ps2epsi
* toolbin/3way.tcl
* toolbin/gsindent
* toolbin/gssubst
* toolbin/makeset.tcl
* toolbin/many2pdf.tcl
* toolbin/pre.tcl

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 8.01 and also affect version 8.50. Other versions may also be vulnerable.

Solution:
Grant only trusted users access to affected systems.

Remove the affected scripts or edit the scripts to ensure that temporary files are created securely.
