Description:
Paul J Docherty has reported a security issue in Spectrum Cash Receipting System, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to disclose user credentials.

The problem is that Spectrum Cash Receipting System stores passwords locally using a weak encryption algorithm. This makes it easier to gain knowledge of the passwords via brute force attacks.

Successful exploitation requires access to the local password file.

The security issue has been reported in version 6.406.08. Other versions may also be affected.
