|
|
Description: Erik Sjolund has reported two vulnerabilities in ncpfs. The first can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges, and the second may potentially allow malicious people to compromise a user's system.
1) Some utilities access files insecurely with escalated privileges and can be exploited via symlink attacks or a specially crafted "HOME" environment variable.
2) A boundary error in ncplogin may be exploited by a malicious NetWare server to cause a buffer overflow on the client.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
Solution: Update to version 2.2.6.
