Description:
Patrik Karlsson has reported a vulnerability in BrightStor ARCserve/Enterprise Backup, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an boundary error in the Discovery service and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted request containing an overly large amount of data.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability affects the following versions for Windows and NetWare:
* BrightStor ARCserve Backup 9.x
* BrightStor ARCserve Backup 11.x
* BrightStor Enterprise Backup 10.x
* BrightStor ARCserve 2000
