Description: A vulnerability has been reported in KDE, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to manipulate the contents of certain files.
The vulnerability is caused due to kppp leaking privileged file descriptor information, which can be exploited to manipulate the contents of the "/etc/hosts" and "/etc/resolv.conf" files.
Successful exploitation allows hijacking of the domain name resolution capabilities, but requires that kppp has been installed setuid.
The vulnerability has been reported in kppp 2.1.2 and affects KDE 3.1.5 and prior.
