Description: Dr_insane has discovered a vulnerability in Spinworks Application Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the web server and can be exploited by passing a dot as argument to the "sid" parameter (or any arbitrary parameter ending with "sid").
Example:
http://[host]:5002/?sid=.
Successful exploitation crashes the web server.
A problem was also reported in some of the included sample scripts.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 3.0 for Windows. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Filter traffic to the web server using a proxy server or firewall with URL filtering capabilities.
Always remove sample scripts.
