Description:
Braden Thomas has reported a vulnerability in 4D WebSTAR, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing URLs in the web server's Tomcat plugin. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow and crash a vulnerable service by sending a specially crafted HTTP request with an overly long URL.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 5.33 and 5.4. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution:
Apply 4D WebSTAR Tomcat Plug-in Update 5.4.1 or 5.3.4.
