Description: Eric Romang has reported a vulnerability in GNU shtool, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to temporary files being created insecurely. This can be exploited via symlink attacks in combination with a race condition to create and overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running the affected script.
Once a temporary file is created, it is also reused insecurely.
The vulnerability has been reported in versions 2.0.1 and prior.
