Description: Ubuntu has issued updates for binutils and binutils-multiarch. These fix a vulnerability, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow in the BFD (Binary File Descriptor) library. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by tricking a user into processing a specially crafted binary in an application using the vulnerable library.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
