Description: Two vulnerabilities have been reported in Sybase EAServer, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
1) A boundary error can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by passing an overly large javascript parameter to TreeAction.do in "/WebConsole/".
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the jagsrv.exe process, but requires that the user is authenticated to WebConsole.
2) An unspecified boundary error can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code and does not require any authentication to WebConsole.
Solution: Apply EBF (see vendor advisory for details).
Provided and/or discovered by: 1) David Dewey, SPI Dynamics.
2) The vendor credits Tenable Network Security.
Changelog: 2005-07-25: Added information about additional vulnerability.
