Description: Matthias Andree has reported a vulnerability in fetchmail, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling UIDL responses from a POP3 server and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code, but requires that the user is tricked into connecting to a malicious POP3 server. In version 6.2.5.1, successful exploitation crashes fetchmail due to two NULL pointer dereferences.
The vulnerability has been reported in versions 6.2.0, 6.2.5, and 6.2.5.1. Prior versions may also be affected.
