Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in SilverNews, which can be exploited by malicious people to view and manipulate certain information, conduct SQL injection attacks, and compromise a vulnerable system.
1) Input passed to the username in the administration login isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
This can further be exploited to bypass the authentication process and access the administration section where PHP code can be injected in templates.
Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
2) An unspecified error can be exploited to view and modify the newsboard configuration.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 2.0.3. Prior versions may also be affected.
