Description:
Red Hat has issued an update for dump. This fixes a weakness, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The weakness is caused due to the use of flock() when locking the "/etc/dumpdates" file and can be exploited to prevent dump from running by obtaining a lock on the file before dump.

Successful exploitation requires the user to have read access to the file.

Solution:
Updated packages are available from Red Hat Network.
