|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description
Jeff Peadro has discovered a vulnerability in Nortel VPN Client, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges. The vulnerability is caused due to the program running its GUI with SYSTEM privileges rather than using the privileges of the currently logged on user. This can be exploited to gain SYSTEM privileges by using the certificate or token selection functionality to launch cmd.exe. Successful exploitation requires that the client has been installed as a system service. The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 04_65.26 and has also been reported in versions 05_01.030 and 05_01.100. Other versions may also be affected.
