Description: Dr. Peter Bieringer has reported a security issue in Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux File Server, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges.
The security issue is caused due to insecure default directory permissions of the log directory "/var/log/kav/5.5/kav4unix/". This can be exploited via symlink attacks to create or overwrite arbitrary files with privileges of the root user.
The security issue has been reported in version 5.5-2. Prior versions may also be affected.
