Description: Luigi Auriemma has discovered a vulnerability in Ventrilo Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in handling certain malformed status query packets. This can be exploited to crash the server by sending a specially crafted status query packet to port 3784/udp.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.3.0 and has also been reported in versions 2.1.2 through 2.3.0.
Solution: Filter incoming malicious UDP datagrams to the service.
