Luigi Auriemma has reported two vulnerabilities in MultiTheftAuto Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to modify certain information or cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

1) An authentication error in admin command 40 can be exploited to modify or delete the "motd.txt" file on the server, without requiring knowledge of the password.

2) An error in handling admin command 40 can cause an endless loop and can be exploited to crash a Windows server.

Successful exploitation requires that remote administration is enabled.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 0.5 patch 1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Run network game servers only when connected to trusted networks.
