Description: Mike Frysinger has reported some vulnerabilities in Berkeley MPEG Tools, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges.
The vulnerabilities are caused due to temporary files being created insecurely in "/tmp" by "mpeg_encode/parallel.c", by the convert utilities "eyuvtojpeg", "vidtoeyuv", "vidtojpeg", "vidtoppm", and "eyuvtoppm", and by the Makefile for the "test" make target. This can be exploited via symlink attacks to create or overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running the affected application.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.5b. Other versions may also be affected.
