|
Description: Javier Fernandez-Sanguino Pena has reported some vulnerabilities in Cfengine, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges.
1) Temporary files are being created insecurely in "/tmp" by "contrib/vicf.in" This can be exploited via symlink attacks to create or overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running the affected script.
The vulnerability affects version 1.6.5 and 2.1.16. Other versions may also be vulnerable.
2) Temporary files are being created insecurely in "/tmp" by "/bin/cfmailfilter" and "/contrib/cfcron.in". This can be exploited via symlink attacks to create or overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running the affected script.
The vulnerability affects version 1.6.5. Prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: Grant only trusted users access to affected systems.
Some Linux vendors have issued fixed packages.
