|
|
Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in OpenVMPS, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service), or compromise a vulnerable system.
1) A format string error exists in the "vmps_log()" function when logging various information using "syslog()". This can be exploited to crash the service and may allow arbitrary code execution via a specially-crafted request.
2) Some boundary error exists in "vqp.c" when copying received data into fixed length buffers. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow and causes the service to crash.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.3. Prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: Restrict access to the service.
