Description: Gary O'leary-Steele has reported a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system. The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the CDO (Collaboration Data Objects) COM component when event sinks are used to parse email contents. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted email message with an overly long header line that is delivered through SMTP. Successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution. Solution: Apply patches.
