Description:
rgod has discovered a vulnerability in CuteNews, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose sensitive information and compromise a vulnerable system.

Input passed to the "template" parameter in "show_archives.php" and "show_news.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources.

This can further be exploited to execute arbitrary PHP code by including the "inc/ipban.mdu" script where PHP code can be injected via the "add_ip" parameter.

Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.4.1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
The vulnerability has been fixed in an updated 1.4.1 version (build 178).
