|
|
Description: Ludwig Nussel has reported two vulnerabilities in GNUMP3d, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges, and by malicious people to disclose potentially sensitive information.
1) An error exists due to the insecure creation of "index.lok" lock file in "/tmp" when the music server is indexing the music files. This can be exploited via symlink attacks to overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running the music server.
2) An input validation error in the "theme" parameter may be exploited to disclose certain files on a vulnerable system via directory traversal attacks.
Example:
http://[host]/directory/file?theme=../..
The vulnerabilities have been reported in versions prior to 2.9.8.
Solution: Update to version 2.9.8.
