Description: Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in sCssBoard, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks, to bypass certain security restrictions, to disclose sensitive information, and to compromise a vulnerable system.
1) Input passed to the "search_term" parameter when performing a search is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
This vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.12 and has also been reported in version 1.2 (development). Other versions may also be affected.
2) Input passed to the "inc_function" parameter in index.php (when "act" is set) is not properly verified before being used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local or external resources.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that "register_globals" is enabled.
3) Input passed in the "scb_uid" and "scb_ident" cookies to index.php is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to get administrator access without valid administrator credentials.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
4) The admin/forums.php script does not properly restrict access to legitimate users, when passing data in the
"current_user[users_level]" parameter. This can be exploited to get administrator access without valid administrator credentials.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that "register_globals" is enabled.
5) Input passed to the "f" parameter in index.php (when "act" is set to "showforum") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
6) Input passed to the "viewcat" parameter in index.php and "u" in index.php (when "act" is set to "profile") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
NOTE: Other parameters are potentially also affected.
The vulnerabilities #2-6 are confirmed in version 1.12. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and verified. Restrict access to the "admin/" directory (e.g. with ".htaccess").
Use another product.
