|
Description: Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in Fantastic News, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks and compromise a vulnerable system.
1) Input passed to the "category" parameter in "news.php" isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
2) Input passed to the "CONFIG[script_path]" parameter in "archive.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from external and local resources.
Successful exploitation requires that "register_globals" is enabled.
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 2.1.1. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
Provided and/or discovered by: 1) r0t
2) uid0
Changelog: 2006-03-17: Added additional vulnerability provided by uid0.
