Description: Two vulnerabilities have been reported in Sun Solaris PC NetLink, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions with escalated privileges.
The vulnerabilities are caused due to the "/opt/lanman/sbin/slsmgr" command, and the "/etc/init.d/slsadmin" script allowing files to be opened insecurely. This can be exploited to write to the filesystem with the permissions of the user running the affected command/script.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 2.0 running on the Solaris 7, 8 and 9.
Solution: Apply patches.
PC NetLink 2.0 (for Solaris 7, 8 and 9):
Apply patch 121332-01 or later, and 121209-01 or later.
