Description: Corsaire has reported a vulnerability in the VMware ESX Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks.
Input passed to the username during login to the VMware Management Interface and to the FTP server is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which is executed in an administrative user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious user data is viewed in the syslog via the Management Interface.
NOTE: The FTP server is not enabled by default.
The vulnerability has been reported in versions 2.0.x, 2.1.x, and 2.5.x.
