CVE-2006-0217

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Ultimate Auction, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

1) Input passed to the "item" parameter in "item.pl" and the "category" parameter in "itemlist.pl" isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Examples:
http://[victim]/cgi-local/auktion/item.pl/item.pl?item=[code]
http://[victim]/cgi-local/auktion/itemlist.pl?category=[code]

2) Input passed to the "item" parameter in emailtofriend.pl and violation.pl, to the "seller" parameter in vsoa.pl, to the "user" parameter in userask.pl and leavefeed.pl, to the "itemnum" parameter in userask.pl, and to the "query" parameter in search.pl is also not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 3.67 and prior. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
