Description: Dejun Meng has reported a vulnerability in BitComet Client, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the handling of the publisher's name URI in a " .torrent" file. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow and allows arbitrary code execution.
Successful exploitation requires that the user is e.g. tricked into downloading a malicious " .torrent" file and clicking on the publisher's name link.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 0.60. Prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 0.61.
