CVE-2006-0603
CVE-2006-0604

Description:
Aliaksandr Hartsuyeu has discovered some vulnerabilities in phphg Guestbook, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion and SQL injection attacks, and bypass certain security restrictions.

1) Input passed to the "username" parameter in "check.php" during login and the "id" parameter in the administration section isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

2) Input passed to various fields when signing the guestbook isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious guestbook entry is viewed.

3) An error caused due to an insecure authentication process can be exploited to access the administration section by defining the "loged", "username", and "user_level" cookie parameters.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 1.2. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 1.5.
