|
Description: Aliaksandr Hartsuyeu has discovered some vulnerabilities in Magic News Lite, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions and to compromise a vulnerable system.
1) Input passed to the "php_script_path" parameter in "preview.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from external and local resources.
Successful exploitation requires that "register_globals" is enabled.
2) The $passwd, $admin_password, $new_passwd, and $confirm_passwd" variables in "profile.php" isn't properly initialised before use. This can be exploited to change the administrator's password in "config.php" without requiring a valid logon.
Successful exploitation requires that "register_globals" is enabled.
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 1.2.3. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly verified, and that variables are initialised.
