Description: A vulnerability has been reported in GNU Tar, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the handling of PAX extended headers. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.15.1. Prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.15.90 (alpha).
