CVE-2006-1796

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in WordPress, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

1) Input passed to the "Name" and "Website" parameters in wp-comments-post.php isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.0.1. Prior versions may also be affected.

2) It is also possible to disclose the full path to certain scripts by accessing them directly, disclose the content of certain directories, and by administrators to inject arbitrary HTML and script code via the "comment" parameter.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.0.1. Prior versions may also be affected.

3) Input passed to the URL in "index.php" isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Successful exploitation requires that the user is running the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.5.2. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
1, 3) Update to version 2.0.2.

2) Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
