|
|
Description: Revnic Vasile has reported two vulnerabilities in Easy File Sharing Web Server, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks and by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
1) A format-string error exists within the logging functionality when logging received HTTP requests. This can be exploited to crash the server via a specially-crafted request.
Example:
http://[host]/%25n
2) Input passed in the Description field when uploading a file or when creating a folder isn't sanitised before being saved. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected website when a folder containing malicious file/folder description is viewed.
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 3.2. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Filter malicious characters and character sequences in a proxy or firewall with a URL filtering capabilities.
Provided and/or discovered by: Revnic Vasile
Changelog: 2006-03-16: Added CVE references.
