Description: Ramon 'ports' Kukla has discovered a vulnerability in AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to the application running notepad.exe with SYSTEM privileges when the user clicks on the "Report" button after completing an update. This can be exploited to run cmd.exe with escalated privileges.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 7.0 build 138 (Classic). Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to the fixed versions via online update.
PersonalEdition Classic:
Update to build 142 or later.
PersonalEdition Premium:
Update to build 127 or later.
