Beskrivelse:
Der er fundet nogle sårbarheder i Mercur Messaging 2005, som kan udnyttes af ondsindede personer og af ondsindede brugere til at forårsage et DoS (Denial of Service) eller kompromittere et sårbart system.

Sårbarhederne skyldes ikke-kontrollerede buffere under håndteringen af diverse IMAP-kommandoer. Dette kan udnyttes til at forårsage stack-baserede buffer overflows via lange argumenter suppleret til f.eks. LOGIN, SELECT, EXAMINE, STATUS, CREATE, DELETE, RENAME, LIST, LSUB og UNSUBSCRIBE kommandoerne. Andre kommandoer er muligvis også berørte.

Succesfuld udnyttelse muliggør eksekvering af vilkårlig kode.

Sårbarheden er bekræftet i version 5.0 SP3 og SP4, men andre versioner kan også være berørte.
