Description: r57shell has reported a vulnerability in Burning Board and Burning Board Lite, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
Input passed to the URL isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user via the "acp/lib/class_db_mysql.php" script. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Successful exploitation requires that a SQL error is triggered (e.g. via a third-party module or when the MySQL database is down).
The vulnerability has been confirmed in Burning Board Lite 1.0.2pl2e and has also been reported in Burning Board 2.3.4. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
Provided and/or discovered by: r57shell
Changelog: 2006-03-22: Added CVE reference.
