CVE-2008-2764

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Absolute Live Support XE, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion and cross-site scripting attacks, and by malicious users to conduct SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "Session Topic" field when a user requests for support is not properly sanitised before being displayed in the Live Monitor. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected website when a malicious request is displayed in the Live Monitor.

2) Input passed to the "repname", "name", "ref", and "topic" parameters in search.asp is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

3) Input passed to the "orderby" parameter in search.asp is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation requires valid administrator credentials.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 2.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.

Filter malicious characters and character sequences in a proxy.
