CVE-2006-1641

Description:
Aliaksandr Hartsuyeu has reported some vulnerabilities in CzarNews, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion and SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "email" parameter in news.php isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious user data is viewed.

Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

2) Input passed to the "usern" parameter in cn_auth.php, the "passw" parameter in cn_auth.php, the "s" parameter in news.php, and the "a" parameter in dpost.php is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.14. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
