Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in Manila, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and script insertion attacks.

1) Input passed to the "mode" parameter in "discuss/msgReader" and input passed to "newsItems/viewDepartment" is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Examples:
http://[host]/discuss/msgReader$1?mode=[code]
http://[host]/newsItems/viewDepartment$[code]

2) Input passed when editing web content via the "editInBrowser" functionality isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious user data is viewed.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 9.5 using the built-in web server. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Filter malicious characters and character sequences in a proxy server.

Provided and/or discovered by:
1) d4igoro
2) Michael Bauer and Aaron Kaplan
