Beskrivelse:
Der er rapporteret flere sårbarheder i Ethereal, som kan udnyttes af ondsindede personer til at forårsage et DoS (Denial of Service) eller til at kompromittere et sårbart system.

Sårbarhederne skyldes forskellige typer ikke kontrollerede buffer fejl, en off-by-one fejl og en uendelig løkke, samt flere uspecificerede fejl i forskellige protokol-fortolkere.

Succesfuld udnyttelse forårsager at Ethereal stopper med at svare, bruger en stor mængde system ressourcer, crasher eller eksekverer vilkårlig kode.

Sårbarhederne berører version 0.8.5 til 0.10.14.
