Description: Julien Tinnes has reported a vulnerability in Truecrypt, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to the unsafe use of the "execvp()" function to execute external commands without sanitising the user's current PATH settings. This can potentially be exploited by local users to execute arbitrary commands with root privileges via specially-crafted PATH settings.
Successful exploitation requires that the root user has specified Truecrypt to be installed suid root during the installation process (non-default).
The vulnerability has been reported in version 4.1. Prior versions may also be affected.
